When the NSW Department of Education approached us to create a really special inflatable finish line arch, we jumped at the chance to help.
The arch was to form an entry way for a high-profile event for the organisation, so it was important that the inflatable finish line arch was truly memorable. Creating lasting memories is what we do and we couldn’t wait to get started!
School Spectacular, held annually in New South Wales, brought together school communities from throughout the region, and the inflatable finish line arch was to be the entrance point for SpecFest, the outdoor entertainment hub for School Spectacular.
Of the many highlights of School Spectacular, Spec Fest offered live music, activities, interactive activities, food, and refreshment stalls – everything that was needed for a great day out for the whole family. The inflatable finish line arch had to help entice people into the hub.
Back to the Classroom
Before Inflatable Anything could get stuck into the design for the inflatable finish line arch, they had to take various technical factors into account.
The arch had to be freestanding but still needed to be completely secure, and it had to incorporate plenty of space for multiple banners for the sponsors and advertisers of the event. The client also requested that the design of the arch allowed for banners to be removed and replaced, so the inflatable finish line arch could be used again for future events.
And so, it was back to the classroom for the designers from Inflatable Anything. If they didn’t want to get in trouble with the teacher, they needed to get this design right!
As there were no leg supports on the inflatable finish line arch, the designers decided to include a selection of carefully located D-rings, which formed an alternative support structure for the inflatable finish line arch. This helped to ensure the full visual impact was fulfilled for the client, but without compromising the safety and security of the arch.
The internal dimensions of the inflatable finish line arch were 6 meters in width and 4 meters in height, which allowed plenty of space for people to pass in and out of the arch way.
It was decided to use a simple, fresh white colour for the background of the arch. This formed an eye-catching contrast to the vivid blue of the branding and helped it to really stand out at the event. Velcro banners were added to the inflatable finish line arch so that all the sponsors’ branding could be accommodated.
Thankfully the NSW Department of Education loved the draft design and happily gave us the go ahead to manufacture the inflatable finish line arch for the event.
Into Production
Once the arch had been made, and before it was presented to the client, we wanted to make 100% sure it exactly fulfilled their expectations. The arch was inflated at our manufacturing facility and rigorously checked by our team of experts.
We pride ourselves on attention to detail at Inflatable Anything and because every single product is bespoke, it is important that we make sure each and every inflatable is as perfect as the last.
Happy with the overall look and satisfied that it was suitably safe and secure, the inflatable finish line arch was able to be delivered to the client in plenty of time for their event.

At the SpecFest event, the arch only took around 10 minutes to set up which was an added bonus for the team from the NSW Department of Education. This gave them more time to get everything else ready for the launch of their special event.
Once they saw their arch fully inflated, the clients were over the moon, and were hugely impressed by the size, the visual impact and the practicality of the inflatable finish line arch. They have since been able to use the arch again at subsequent events, due to the fact that the advertising banners are attached using Velcro, so can be easily removed and replaced. Yet another gold star for the team!
SpecFest was a huge success for the NSW Department of Education and we were delighted to be a part of such a memorable occasion. Definitely a good school report for us after this challenge.
